Gatineau Ottawa Maternity Photographer
Why I love Maternity Photography
The only thing I love more than newborn photography is being able to capture a mom to be in the prime of her journey towards motherhood. There’s just something about pregnancy and babies that empowers my decision to become a newborn and maternity photographer. I get to create and capture moments for clients, and truly create a memorable experience for them to cherish forever.
Mom to be Amanda
On the other hand, sometimes I really just want to be my creative self and explore the possibilities of other creative aspects I can incorporate into my maternity photography to give it that extra oumfph of pizzazz. I was lucky to find this amazing lady to be my model this spring. Yes, it really was spring despite the snow in these pregnancy portraits. That’s what being an Ottawa Maternity Photographer means; spring portraits in the snow! The lucky momma is expecting twins this summer, and I am super excited to photograph them!
Studio Maternity Mini Session
I was honoured to use her as my maternity model to test out some new lighting techniques, and challenge myself and makeup artist to accomplish as many gorgeous images in a mini session time frame. Normally these are “as you arrive” sessions which means no wardrobe change or professional hair & makeup, and we typically get 5-10 gorgeous images.. I’d like to think we made the hour count! (20-30 for makeup & 30-45 for photographing). Let us know what you think in the comments below :)
Before & After
It’s amazing how you can go from pretty lady to gorgeous woman with a few simple steps. Makeup and posing make all the difference! And of course so do fabulous smiles :)
Maternity Mini
Though I would have much rather spent the usual 2 hours photographing like my typical custom maternity sessions in order to get multiple outfits with multiple poses in each (some in-studio, some outdoors), I think it’s safe to say we rocked this shoot! We managed to fit in three different outfits into our little mini session! We got to try out 4 completely different looks, and I am quite pleased with them.
Look #1 – Backlit Maternity Gown
I was super excited to try out this new style at our new studio location since our move in March. I am VERY pleased with how this maternity portrait came out! Of course as my own worse critic I see some technical aspects that can be improved, but Amanda was a trooper through my constantly changing directions ;)
Look #2 – Flowing Maternity Gown
Another new style for us; the flowing gown maternity photographs. I love how the material just flows through the air and makes her look so happy and energetic. Special thanks to our assistant on this one.
Look #3 – Classic Tank
Did you know that the studio carries tank tops for you to use in case you don’t have one at home that fits? Yep. We understand that sometimes your belly can grow faster than you can stock up on shirts. They also come in handy for newborn sessions if little ones make a mess of mom’s outfit. We carry tanks in all neutral colours: white, cream, brown, tan, and grey. We also have bandeau bras if you prefer a lacy and bare-belly look.
Look #4 – Mom’s Choice
Our last outfit is always from mom’s closet to showcase her personality and style. Though I always recommend to stay away from black as maternity photography is about portraying new life, this momma rocked the darker look.
How do I book a session?

How gorgeous does that mumma to be look! what a natural beauty! Amanda looks just as gorgeous in the 'before' shot as she does in the gorgeous maternity photographs. I love all the different looks, especially the flowing look as she looks so glowing and happy! I bet all the Gatineau mummies to be want you as their maternity photographer. One day when I am pregnant I would love to have images like these.
Gorgeous maternity images by a super talented Gatineau photographer! I am so impressed that you were able to incorporate so many beautiful looks in such a short amount of time. And what amazing service you provide your clients that you have extra clothing available for them in case nothing fits from home! You must set the standard quite high for maternity photography in Ottawa :)
This looks like a great Gatineau maternity photography mini session! I think you did a great job getting a variety of images in the time you had! Before and after, this mama to be is beautiful! And she's carrying twins?! She looks amazing!
What a beautiful momma-to-be. These maternity photographs are stunning and show off her beautiful new curves. I love LOVE the backlit image - it looks so serene. I am sure this Gatineau mom loves these images - I know I would if this was me. Well done
